From Corporate to Creative: Why I Quit my Job to Host Embroidery Workshops
Tired of the grind? Spending a commute dreaming of craft? Sitting in the office knowing you could be doing something you were truly passionate about and spending every Monday morning thinking 'what if'?
I here ya sista.
In a world driven by deadlines, targets, and bottom lines, finding a fulfilling and creative outlet became a bit of an obsession and exactly why I (eventually!) made the decision to leave my corporate job in marketing behind and embark on a journey of hosting embroidery workshops.
Four months in and no regrets. Yes, it's hard work (hello 16 work hour days, goodbye paid holiday time) but boy, is it worth it!
After years of working in the corporate world, I found myself longing for a deeper sense of purpose and creative fulfillment. Hosting embroidery workshops allowed me to reconnect with my love for crafting and create a space where others could do the same.
I'm also driven by the idea of giving people a nurturing environment for to explore their creativity and express themselves through needle and thread and creative embroidery. Embroidery workshops offer a free-flowing space where imagination takes center stage. And that is my vibe entirely (no offence, open planned office, excel spread sheets and 9am teams meetings)

Another incredibly rewarding aspects of hosting embroidery workshops is the opportunity to build a supportive and inclusive community. Participants gather not only to learn embroidery techniques but also to connect with like-minded people who share a passion for creativity.  I love it  when people come to my workshops alone and end up leaving with shared experiences (and exchanged numbers!) their new found embroidery skills and new friendships.
Embroidery workshops offer a therapeutic and meditative experience too, the process of embroidery promotes mindfulness, helping individuals to relax, reduce stress, and find inner peace - and who wouldn't want to spread that love around!
The truth is I'm a firm believer that when you have a passion for something it's becomes very hard to fight it after a while - I wasn't unhappy in my job but I was certainly unfulfilled, and the truth is there is nothing quite as deflating than committing everyday to something that isn't your passion. I also am totally convinced that embroidery and craft in general has such a positive impact on peoples lives.

People are often shocked that I work all day in an embroidery job and then unwind with, you guessed it, an embroidery - but it's had such a profound impact on my life, just gotta stitch!
Leaving my corporate job in marketing to host embroidery workshops was a leap of faith that has transformed my life in unimaginable ways. Through these workshops, I have found a sense of purpose, fostered creativity, built a supportive community, embraced mindfulness, and empowered others.
No small talk around the coffee machine on a Monday morning, but hey, somethings got to give.
